The FAQ

How does your process work? What can I expect?

Think of our process like giant polaroids. Imagine an old Western photographer standing behind a giant boxy camera with bellows saying, "Smile for the birdie."

We take the photo directly onto 8x10" darkroom photo paper, and using a reversal process we create analog positive images. We develop them during the session, so you can watch them develop before your eyes.

How many people can come to a portrait shoot? Do you do groups? Can I bring a friend?

We can comfortable fit 4 people in frame at a time. Our studio is large enough to accomodate large groups if needed. Feel free to bring friends, whether they want to be photographed or just want to come along for moral support, or to see the process.

What should we wear?

Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable, beautiful, and like yourself. Feel free to bring more than one outfit. However lighter colors can keep you from dissapearing into the backdrop we use.

How many photos do we get?

Expect 4 images from an hour long session. We will process and scan the photos during the session, and have them ready for you to take home at the end of the session.

How do we get our photos?

You will leave with finished images, and high quality scans will be available online shortly after your session.

Do you retouch photos?

As our photos are essentially giant polaroids, we cannot retouch your images. We find the serendiptiy of instant photography adds a lot of charm and authenticity to our process.

How do we book you?

Our studio is open by appointment. Please reach out to to discuss pricing, and with any questions. We would love to find a time for you to come to our studio.

Aren't portraits expensive? Do you offer a sliding scale?

We strive to turn no one away because of their finances, or life circumstances. We find this work to be deeply humanizing, and hope to share that experience with as many people as we can. Please don't hesitate to inquire about sliding scale.
